The Syndicators

Talk radio in America informs us. Talk radio defines us. Talk radio often enrages us.

This scene from Howard Stern's bio pic, "Private Parts" quoted on IMDB.com captures the love/hate relationship we have with the hosts and even the callers.

Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.
Pig Vomit: How can that be?
Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."
Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?
Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.
Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen?
Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."

By the way, for those that don't know, "Pig Vomit" was the affectionate nick name Stern gave the radio exec supervising his program. Even then, Howard never got along very well with authority.

What drives the programs. How have they changed through the years. How do they come together, and how can you get on, either as a guest or a caller.

Whether you are a publicist, a promoter, an author or a listener, hopefully you will find this site interesting and helpful. One of the reasons this should be the case, is it is hoped that you will play a significant role in the look and content of this site.

Your questions, suggestions and input are welcome.

Perhaps you’re an author wanting to know if you need to hire a publicist – or can you book interviews on your own. Any questions at all, click here.

The publicist may want to know the best way to reach out to the top programs.

Listeners may want to know how to be a “caller with impact” or why the same callers seem to be on all the time. You may even have ideas for guests or topics you would like to hear.

Perhaps you have ambitions to be on the other side of the equation – you want to work for a radio station. Learn how to get your foot in the door.

This site is being put together by the production staff of some of the top radio programs in the country, heard in some of the largest markets. It's a work in progress - none us are "whizzes" at  web design, but we'll get there. Your feedback is welcome. If there is a particular topic you would like to see, let us know.
